A man was arrested after leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit in San Bernardino County.The suspect was identified as Emmanuel Handsbur, 31, from Lucerne Valley, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.On Aug. 8, authorities spotted Handsbur hitting speeds of over 100 miles per hour on Highway 247 at around 1:56 a.m.Handsbur was then seen turning south on Camp Rock Road before driving off at a high rate of speed. Deputies attempted to pull him over, but Handsbur refused to yield, leading deputies on a pursuit.Throughout the high-speed chase, Handsbur hit triple-digit speeds and at times, drove without headlights, deputies said.He eventually crashed into the backyard of a home on the 9300 block of Camp Rock Road and fled on foot. The Los Angeles Police Department is warning drivers of Hyundai and Kia vehicles to be aware of continued car thefts spurred by an ongoing social media trend.The trend started on the social media video platform TikTok, which showed people how to bypass a critical security function to allow the vehicles to be started without keys. The trend led to a massive surge of thefts of Kia and Hyundai vehicles across the country last year.On Thursday, officials from the LAPD said similar thefts of the same make of automobiles have been reported in the Van Nuys area in recent weeks.To combat the rise in thefts, Kia and Hyundai have rolled out some software updates and issued recalls for affected vehicles. PITTSBURG – A 24-year-old man was shot Thursday at Highlands Ranch Park in Pittsburg, police said.The shooting was reported around 2:15 p.m. at the park on Buchanan Road, said Pittsburg police Lt. James Terry. (KRON) -- Aerial photographs shot by a Getty Images photographer along the west coast of Maui Thursday revealed devastating destruction left in the wake of a hurricane wind-whipped wildfire. Between a sparkling blue ocean and vibrant green mountains, a line of dark gray can be seen where the historic town of Lahaina burned to the ground.Lahaina was one of Maui's largest communities, dating back to the 1700s. (KRON) -- A man was arrested in connection to a theft at Walmart on Wednesday, the American Canyon Police Department (ACPD) said. Around 6 p.m., officers tried to conduct a traffic stop on a red Jeep (pictured below) that was involved in a theft from the store.The Jeep drove at a "high rate of speed" before crashing into a curb near James and Wilson Road, according to ACPD.
