San Rafael man arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen firearm, meth following traffic stop

(BCN) -- A man on probation was arrested Monday in San Rafael for allegedly possessing a stolen firearm and methamphetamine following a traffic stop. Police said that when a patrol officer approached the man's black Dodge Charger after noticing the car's modified and illegal tail lights, the driver ran a red light.However, the unidentified driver proceeded to pull into a gas station at Grand Avenue and Third Street, where the officer made a traffic stop. Additional officers arrived to assist with the traffic stop.After the officer noticed the man behaving "oddly" and acting nervous, he asked the suspect to step out of the vehicle and saw the man adjusting his waistband, police said.The officer observed a silhouette of a firearm in the man's pants when the waistband was being adjusted, according to police. A stolen .38 caliber revolver that had fallen down the suspect's pant leg was located as well as methamphetamine, police said. (BCN) -- San Jose police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found at the Newby Island Landfill June 2. (KRON) -- A collision between a vehicle and pedestrian left one person dead in East San Jose on Monday morning, according to the San Jose Police Department. Officers responded to the scene at 8:04 a.m., according to SJPD. 1 dead, 6 injured in shooting at Antioch birthday party The crash occurred near McKee Road and Jackson Avenue. The pedestrian was identified as a man who suffered life-threatening injuries. He was declared dead at the scene. The man was struck by a 2008 red Lexus sedan traveling west on McKee. The pedestrian was walking north across McKee, outside of any marked crosswalks, police said. The driver of the Lexus, described as an adult man, remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The victim's identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office and confirmation and notification of next of kin.This is the 20th fatal collision and 21st traffic death in San Jose this year.
